6 airports operate night flights during the Lunar New Year 2025

The Civil Aviation Authority requires units to plan ahead of time and collaborate with airlines in order to deploy night flight plans at some airports during the Lunar New Year of 2025.

The goal is for select airports to operate night flights for the Lunar New Year in 2025

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has recently delivered a document to the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) addressing night flights at select airports during the Lunar New Year 2025.

This request came after Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Bamboo Airways asked the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to increase night flight hours at select airports for the Lunar New Year in 2025.

To meet people’s travel needs, the Civil Aviation Authority requested that ACV and VATM direct units to proactively arrange resources, coordinate with airlines, and deploy night flight operations from 00:00 to 24:00 every day at Tho Xuan (Thanh Hoa), Dong Hoi (Quang Binh), Chu Lai (Quang Nam), Phu Cat (Binh Dinh), Pleiku (Dak Lak), and Tuy Hoa (Phu Yen) airports from January 14 to February 12, 2025.

Preparations for Night Flight Operations

The Civil Aviation Authority has also made preparations, such as establishing conditions for airlines to add aircraft fleets, adjusting parameters for coordinating landing and take-off times at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (from January 14 to February 12, 2025), and directing service units in the air transport chain to develop plans, prepare resources, and be ready to serve night time slots.

Furthermore, the Civil Aviation Authority will monitor the state of seat bookings and airfares on domestic routes in order to quickly direct airlines to supplement capacity on high-demand routes, therefore meeting passenger needs during the peak period of the Lunar New Year 2025.

How have airlines implemented night flight operations?

Early sales of around 1.5 million tickets for the Tet holiday have been available on the whole domestic airline network since September 2024 by the Vietnam Airlines Group, which includes Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, and VASCO. According to the management agency’s approval of the present flight schedule, this is the first ticket sale.

Early sales of 2.6 million Tet tickets were also launched by Vietjet Air between January 15 and February 12, 2025 (December 16, the year of the Dragon, to January 15, the year of the Snake).

Bamboo Airways has started selling tickets for the January 15–February 12, 2025 timeframe (December 16–January 15 at Ty year) in order to accommodate clients’ travel demands during this busy time.

Finally, airlines will expand night flights at several airports to accommodate people’s travel demands during the Lunar New Year 2025.
