A Japanese plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Seattle after passengers attempted to unlock the door several hours after departure. All Nippon Airways flight ANA 114 from Tokyo to Texas on May 24 had to make an emergency landing in Seattle, Washington, almost 9 hours after departure owing to “disorderly passengers”.

On May 26, Seattle police reported that a passenger on a flight attempted to open the door while the jet was in flight, causing mayhem in the cabin. The personnel and other people detained the man to guarantee his safety.

Following the plane’s emergency landing in Seattle, the passenger was promptly transported to the hospital for “a medical emergency.”

While the jet was parked on the tarmac at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, another passenger, unhappy over the change in flight schedule, punched the door to a lavatory aboard the plane. He was also removed from the plane due to “disorderly conduct,” according to a city statement. ANA Flight 114 arrived at George Bush International Airport in Houston, Texas almost four hours later than scheduled.

Similar incidents of All Nippon Airways

In 2024, an inebriated passenger on an All Nippon Airways flight from Tokyo to Seattle bit a flight attendant’s hand roughly an hour after departure. The passenger was recognized as a 55-year-old American citizen who boarded the plane while drunk.

In April, a Jetstar flight from Bali, Indonesia, to Melbourne, Australia, was forced to return to the airport and make an emergency landing after a passenger attempted to open an emergency exit in midair. Also in April, a passenger on an Air Asia flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, attempted to open an emergency exit twice during the flight.

In November 2023, an Asiana Airlines flight experienced an incident where a passenger opened the emergency exit door shortly before landing in South Korea, causing nine passengers to develop respiratory issues and necessitating hospitalization.
