Da Nang Airport imposes a service fee for expedited lanes
Da Nang International Airport will commence the collecting of priority lane service fees at domestic terminal T1 starting in 2025.
The status of service charge collecting at Da Nang Airport
On December 2, Mr. Phan Kieu Hung, Director of Da Nang International Airport announced that the collection of fees for passenger services using priority lanes at security screening locations will be officially implemented beginning January 1, 2025.
Specifically, at Terminal T1 – Da Nang International Airport, a separate aisle area will be planned for priority passengers to undergo security screening, complete with directional signs, aviation security control forces, and specialized machinery and equipment to conduct separate security screening in compliance with regulations.
The estimated service price is 100,000 VND per guest, without VAT.
Opinions about Da Nang Airport collecting service fees for priority lanes
According to Mr. Hung, certain airlines have raised their concerns, but the fee collecting is in compliance with rules. If there is no demand, the airline will arrange for passengers to travel as usual. Mr. Hung stated that airlines currently do not charge passengers for preferred seating. Because there is no price, travelers will not be prioritized. Furthermore, the term “priority lane” does not appear in airline operational papers.
Furthermore, the Director of Da Nang International Airport stated that the unit is not the first airport to adopt this service, as Noi Bai Airport has already done so in its international terminal. “The implementation of priority lane fee collection is being implemented simultaneously at 3 major airports across the country, but due to different roadmaps, the implementation depends on the infrastructure changes of each unit” – Mr. Hung reported.
Notice for Da Nang International Airport
According to a Da Nang International Airport release, the fee-based service allows travelers to access priority lanes at security screening locations as part of the Fast-track service, which is a non-aviation service. It has no effect on the supply capacity or quality of air transport services, nor does it impact the aviation security control procedure; it just assures that the construction operation documents are followed as stipulated.
Using priority lanes allows passengers to avoid waiting in line while also clearing the entrance to the security control gate swiftly, eliminating local congestion caused by passengers going through security screening procedures during peak periods.
Furthermore, this provision provides numerous economic benefits, enhances airline service quality, and increases passenger convenience.
