The on-time take-off rate of Vietnamese airlines in October exceeded 50%
In October, Vietnamese airlines had an on-time takeoff rate that topped 50%.According to Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam statistics, Vietnamese airlines, including Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, and Vietravel Airlines, operated a total of 211,874 flights in the first ten months of 2024, with 157,311 flights departing on time, a rate of 74.2%.
On-time flight departure rates of airlines
Bamboo Airways, in particular, has the highest on-time flight percentage (83.3%), with 11,840/14,214 flights completed on time. Vietnam Airlines follows with 75,232, flights out of a total of 91,035 flights, for an 82.6% performance. Meanwhile, VietJet Air operates 57,815 on-time flights.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, aircraft late arrival is the primary cause of 15.2% of all flight delays. Other reasons include airport equipment and services, which account for 0.8%. In addition, 841 flights were canceled in the last ten months, with the majority of these due to airline operations (382 flights).
In October 2024 alone, Vietnamese airlines operated 17,847 flights, with 13,315 on-time flights (74.6%), 4,532 delayed flights (25.4%), and 85 flights canceled.
International Aviation Operations
Previously, once air transport activities worldwide officially transitioned to the 2024 Winter Flight Schedule (October 27, 2024 to March 29, 2025), Vietnamese and foreign airlines boosted flight schedules to satisfy people’s growing travel needs.
For international aviation operations, Vietnamese and foreign airlines operate a total of 2,720 round-trip flights per week. Vietnamese airlines have 1,013 round-trip flights per week, while international airlines have 1,707 round-trip flights per week, up 152 and 236 flights per week, respectively, from the summer 2024 flying plan.
Vietnamese airlines conduct international aviation operations
Vietnamese airlines have operated 98 regular international routes to 20 countries and territories, an increase of six routes over the summer 2024 flight schedule. Vietnam Airlines operates 60 routes with a weekly frequency of 420 round-trip flights, up 41 from the summer 2024 flight schedule. Vietjet Air currently runs 71 routes with 580 round-trip flights each week, an increase of 110 flights per week over the summer 2024 flying schedule.
Vietnamese airlines operate 45 internal routes that connect the country’s 22 additional airports. Vietjet operates 35 routes, with 790 round-trip flights every week. Vietnam Airlines (including Vasco) offers 34 routes, with 912 round-trip flights per week. Bamboo Airways serves 11 routes with 130 round-trip flights per week, Pacific Airlines with 11 routes and 77 round-trip flights per week, and Vietravel Airlines with 5 routes and 49 round-trip flights per week.
