Vietnam and China strengthen their substantial collaboration in a variety of fields
President Luong Cuong met with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, pledging to strengthen substantive cooperation between China and Vietnam in all fields.
Affirming the unique significance and relevance of Vietnam and China
According to VTV, President Luong Cuong confirmed the unique significance and importance of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping’s visit to Vietnam during the “Vietnam-China year of humanistic exchange” and the two nations’ 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations during the meeting held at the Presidential Palace on the morning of April 15.
President Luong Cuong expressed great gratitude for the fruitful discussions and significant consensus reached between Mr. Xi Jinping and top Vietnamese leaders.
The President recommended that the two parties continue to have frequent high-level meetings, exchange governance and national development experiences, and encourage the efficiency of all channels of collaboration, particularly increasing the degree of substantive cooperation in all areas.
Sustain high-level strategic communication between China and Vietnam
In addition to reaffirming that the Chinese Party and State want and are prepared to maintain high-level strategic exchanges with Vietnam, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping shared significant thoughts and recommendations from President Liang Qiang. They also decided to keep strengthening their cooperation through Party, Government, military, and law enforcement channels.
Additionally, Mr. Xi Jinping underlined his readiness to collaborate with Vietnam in order to advance cooperation in developing fields, increase the import of premium Vietnamese goods, and develop smart border gates.
In the past, the Chinese president and general secretary met with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and General Secretary To Lam on his state visit to Vietnam.
Enhancing the All-Inclusive Strategic Alliance
On January 18, 1950, China became the first nation to open diplomatic ties with Vietnam. In 2008, the two nations formed a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
In order to further strengthen and expand the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and advance the creation of a Community of Shared Future of strategic importance, the two nations put up six key cooperation directions during Xi Jinping’s state visit to Vietnam in December 2023.
Vietnam will be China’s fourth-biggest commercial partner globally and the largest ASEAN trading partner in 2024. The bilateral commercial turnover between China and Vietnam is expected to increase by 19.3% to 205.2 billion USD in 2024. The two nations’ bilateral trade turnover is expected to exceed 51.25 billion USD in the first three months of 2025.
