On November 5, at midday, the narrow-body A320 aircraft with registration number JU-1410 landed at Noi Bai International Airport, marking the newest addition to the Bamboo Airways fleet ahead of the year-end high season.

Bamboo Airways is preparing an extra planes for the Lunar New Year

According to a Bamboo Airways spokeswoman, the new aircraft would be rapidly examined and “dressed in uniform” with the airline’s customary identity before being officially launched.

Bamboo Airways is working to boost operating resources in order to improve passenger service capacity ahead of the Lunar New Year high travel season.

From January 15, 2025, till February 12, 2025—ie from December 16 to January 15—the airline has opened for sale hundreds of thousands of plane tickets for the Lunar New Year 2025 on all domestic and international routes with rates starting from only VND 627,000/way (including taxes and fees).

According to Bamboo Airways General Director Luong Hoai Nam, for about a year, the airline has been looking and negotiating with aircraft leasing units throughout the world to get more aircraft in light of the global aviation industry’s aircraft supply constraint. The airline is still actively working with partners and expects to get more new aircraft before the start of the new year to complement the transport force and boost supply capacity.

Airlines’ operational extra planes for the peak Lunar New Year holiday in 2025

The Civil Aviation Authority said it is assisting airlines in adding aircraft to their fleets to match operating schedules during the peak Lunar New Year holiday in 2025. According to sources, Vietnamese airlines intend to continue receiving and leasing new aircraft to supplement their current fleets. Vietnam Airlines intends to receive three additional aircraft (2 A320s and 1 B787-10), while Vietjet Air wants to receive eight A321s and two E190s.

Furthermore, in order to satisfy airline operational goals during the peak period of the Lunar New Year of At Ty in 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority has deployed preliminary work. Adjusting the criteria for coordinating landing and take-off times at Tan Son Nhat airport during Tet (January 14–February 12, 2025); ordering service units in the air transport chain to establish plans, prepare resources, and be ready to serve night time slots.

The Civil Aviation Authority has issued regular flight licenses for the 2024 winter flight schedule to 5 Vietnamese carriers and 72 foreign airlines, totaling more than 4,600 round-trip flights per week, up 188 from the 2024 summer flight schedule.
