The Domestic Terminal T3 is the largest in the nation

Tan Son Nhat Terminal 3 is a technological accomplishment, a symbol of smart aviation, and a gift to the people on the eve of the country’s major holiday. So, what are the unique qualities of this terminal?

Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal has a unique architectural inspired by traditional ao dai. The terminal has a gentle curved roof that extends from the station to the center garden of the commercial-office complex, evoking the delicate lines of the Vietnamese ao dai, which represent grace and elegance. The layers of roof rise and fall, interweaving to create a variety of viewing perspectives while allowing natural light into the terminal.

Using numerous contemporary aviation technologies

Tan Son Nhat Terminal 3 incorporates numerous new aviation technologies for the first time. The Smart Airport model uses biometric technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline the aviation check-in process, saving travelers time. Passengers with a level two electronic identification account can check in for their entire flight online using the integrated aviation service feature on VNeID, a Ministry of Public Security-developed electronic identification application that incorporates biometric authentication technology.

This method allows you to travel throughout the voyage without having to provide documents, saving time, especially during peak hours.

Terminal 3 covers 112,500 m², with one basement and four above-ground stories. The check-in section features 90 typical check-in counters, 20 self-backdrop luggage drop-off counters, and 42 check-in counters. The terminal contains 26 boarding gates, 13 of which are telescopic.

Terminal T3’s actual scenario during the initial period of operation

Until date, Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat Airport has only operated a few flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, according to Van Don from Vietnam Airlines. Vietjet Air has not yet launched flights from the new facility.

As of April 26, Vietnam Airlines had safely conducted over 390 flights and served over 100,000 passengers from Terminal T3. To serve customers, Vietnam Airlines and affiliated units designed and meticulously planned Terminal T3 operations plans early on, with numerous flexible scenarios to react to the actual circumstances during the initial phase of operation.

However, in order to improve convenience and the passenger experience, Vietnam Airlines will not shift all domestic flights to Terminal T3 beginning April 28. Vietnam Airlines will work with relevant units to determine the implementation timeline and provide official information to passengers as soon as possible.
